In addition to its peer-reviewed journals, Vaquita Publishing offers a scholarly book program: research monographs, edited volumes, conference proceedings and academic textbooks. This program is designed for researchers seeking to develop a scholarly contribution in a longer format than a journal article, with the same editorial rigor applied to our journals.
Types of books accepted
- Research monographA book written by a single author or a small team, developing an original and in-depth scholarly contribution on a specific research question.
- Edited volumeA collection of contributions by multiple authors around a shared theme, coordinated by one or more scholarly editors.
- Conference proceedingsA selection of contributions presented at an academic event, reworked and evaluated for structured publication.
- Academic textbookA synthesis work intended for higher education or continuing training, presenting the state of knowledge in a given field.

How to access a book
Unlike our journals, which are distributed in open access, our books follow a paid access model. Each title can be acquired in two ways, at the reader's choice.
Full book purchase
Access to the entire digital edition of the book, for readers wishing to read the full contribution.
Chapter purchase
Purchase of one or more individual chapters, for readers who only need to consult a specific part of the book.
Purchase processing and secure file delivery will be handled by our dedicated payment platform, currently under development.
Editorial process
- Book proposalEvery project begins with a detailed proposal, including a structured outline, a summary of each planned chapter, and a presentation of the project's editorial team.
- Proposal reviewThe proposal is reviewed by the editorial leadership of the relevant disciplinary area, assessing its scholarly relevance and fit with Vaquita Publishing's editorial line.
- Writing and peer reviewOnce the proposal is accepted, the complete manuscript undergoes peer review, adapted to the nature of the book.
- Editorial processingLayout, proofreading, copyediting and manuscript preparation, with an ISBN and DOI assigned to the book and to each chapter.
- PublicationThe book is published in digital format, available for purchase in full or by chapter.
Publication fees for authors
As with our journals, editorial processing fees (Book Processing Charge) may apply once a manuscript is definitively accepted, according to a fee schedule still under definition, given the greater editorial workload compared to a journal article. This schedule will be published before the program launches.
